About Me

Heather
Cape Town, South Africa
Quirky, weird, and somewhat insane. I started this blog in 2010, shortly after obtaining my PPL. Its purpose has been to share my flying experiences, and any tips that might help prospective (or qualified) pilots. I completed my CPL/IF in 2011. Soon after that I began working towards my Grade III Instructors Rating, and qualified as an instructor in February 2012. With about 250hrs to my name, I began the job hunt. With nothing in South Africa, I travelled to Botswana to see if I could make it as a 'bush pilot' (something I have always dreamed of doing). After a month (2 weeks spent in a tent, and the other 2 weeks spent scrounging house-sitting "jobs"), I decided to return to Cape Town, as I was running low on money. I kept looking for work locally, and set about completing my ATPL exams, while building the odd hour here and there. In February 2013, I was employed as a Flight Instructor, and in June I completed my ATPL subjects. After almost two years of instruction, I made the decision to follow my dream and return to Botswana. These days I call Maun "home", and the swamps of the Okavango Delta my playground.
